Why Should I Recycle?

It's easy.

All you have to do is put your recyclable material in the blue or gray recycle bins located either at your desk or in common areas such as near printers or copiers.  The custodians collect the items separately from the trash and place it in designated recycle containers.  TFC Recycle staff collects items from the containers each day.

 Recycling saves the state money.

The Recycling Program operates on a cost recovery basis.  Items that are thrown away are eliminated from the waste stream and the landfill, reducing the cost of waste collection.

The program recycles about ten tons of single stream recycling each day equivalent to approx. 2200 tons annually.

Recycling is good for the environment.

In addition to saving 24,000 yards of landfill during the last four fiscal years, the program has saved approximately:

  • 170,000 trees
  • 51,000,000 gallons of water
  • 660,000 gallons of oil
  • Electricity to power 730 homes for 6 months
